A bonsai is, in Chinese, a plant in a pot. The Chinese were the first to create ornamental trees in miniature in the 2nd century BCE – 2nd century CE during the Han period, where the art of landscaping was perfected, and trees are known to have been planted in containers. A vibrant legend describes how Jiang-feng had such great magical powers that he could conjure up intricate landscapes in dishes –they were complete in every sense and had rocks, mountains, lakes, rivers, people, as well as trees. From here the practice reached Japan during the 11th-13th century, along with the spread of Zen Buddhism.

In Japan, the art of bonsai was perfected and then taken to the rest of the world. Today, however, bonsai trees are recognised as a Japanese system of growing stunted plants. Bonsai plants are not genetically modified or cruelly treated in any way.

Bonsai are just plants that are around two inches to three feet in height, grown from seeds or cuttings. The trees are grown in decorative pots and kept small by expert pruning of branches and roots. The trees are wired on the branches and trunks to produce the desired shapes. The plants live very long and are prized possessions in many families. The common varieties are pine, azalea, camellia, bamboo, and plum. Over time different techniques were used and five main styles emerged: formal upright, informal upright, slanting style, cascade, and semi-cascade.

1. Seasonal activities of the bees
Bees can make honey only during the warmer months when there are a lot more flowers blooming and there is plenty of pollen for them to feed on, but during the cold winter months there is less honey produced by the bees. Bees like humans can sense the changes in weather and environment.

2. The life of the bees as compared to humans
Bees have lives very much like that of the humans. They organize themselves and their work according to their designations and have a method in all that they do. The only difference between the queen bee and women is that the queen bee is permanently pregnant with her first nuptial flight and stays in her hive producing eggs until the sperm runs out. The queen bee mates with 2 or 3 drones and this impregnates her for the next two or three years. The queen bee lays around 2000 eggs per day and lives for around two years after her period of producing young is over. After this a new queen takes over the hive. Mating is seasonal and the pattern differs from one species of bees to another.

The queen bee, like the dignitaries among the humans, is protected by worker bees and drones who keep buzzing around her to protect her from any kind of harm. These worker bees and drones will give their lives to protect the queen bee. The queen bee’s buzz is very different to that of the other bees and is a high pitched buzz. The other bees recognize this sound and keep swarming around her constantly.

Rabbits are popular companion animals and are offered for adoption at many animal shelters, but careful consideration of their needs is essential before bringing one into your home. Keep in mind that no pet should be adopted on impulse or offered as a gift without the caregiver’s full knowledge of what will be necessary for the animal’s well-being.

Do rabbits require special care?
Rabbits are a prey species and as such have different, often subtler, behavior patterns than dogs and cats. Greeting behaviors may be more subdued and expressions of pain or discomfort may be less obvious. Rabbits also have specific needs for a safe and fulfilling home environment that require time and commitment. Naturally, they require proper veterinary care and should be spayed or neutered at the appropriate age to diminish aggressive and territorial behaviors and urine spraying.

Pet rabbits should be safely housed indoors in a rabbit cage at least five times their size to provide plenty of room to move around. Wire cage floors should be covered with cardboard, and a cardboard box for hiding is also a good idea. The room where the rabbit will live also should offer privacy for the animal and a constant cool but comfortable temperature.

Humming birds are tiny creatures averaging 3.5 inches from head to tail. They are the worlds smallest bird, and they are spectacular to witness because of their brilliant colors an their motionless, hovering feeding habits.

The best way to feed hummingbirds is by using a nectar feeder. You must place it high enough on a branch so that squirrels and other predators cannot feed from it. A mixture of sugar and water is the best way to attract humming birds. This blend is as close as you can come to flower nectars. You should not use honey, molasses or any other artificial sweeteners. Though they eat small insects for protein, hummingbirds also rely heavily on flower and prepared nectar for their energy needs. You might be able to successfully attract them to a backyard feeder with a proper combination of timing, consistency, and cleanliness.

It is important to hand your humming bird feeder shortly before spring. If a hummingbird is drawn to the feeder at this time, it will likely return throughout the season, well into fall.

A hummingbird feeder has to be clean; otherwise the bird will not feed. It should be colorful – preferably red and orange with red ribbons trailing off the feeder so it can be easily spotted by the humming bird. There are a couple of different types of hummingbird feeders. The dish type has a perch and allows a good view of the way a hummingbird feeds. The gravity fed bottle style feeder has no perch that eliminates the problem of other pests landing on it to feed.

Guinea pigs didn’t always have the renowned reputation for being a perfect, quiet pet that doesn’t make much mess. They were used long ago by the Inca tribes of Peru as a source of meat and were bred to do just that. Guinea pigs are not an animal that is native to North America and therefore, it is speculated and probably true that sailors took the furry critters along on they voyages as pets. It is also speculated that in this, lie the reason for guineas pigs to have gotten the name because the sailors who brought them along as pets also sold the creatures for a ‘guinea’. The guinea pigs also make few sounds but of the ones they do, they squeak and squeal like a baby pig.

How Do Guinea Pigs Live in their Natural Habitat?

Guinea pigs are actually believed to come from South America and there are still many species today that can be found. The guinea pigs of South America are though to be living in very large family groups that can be found living in the foliage and hiding in long grass. The guinea pigs don’t burrow and hide from other creatures because they hide in grass and trees to escape their enemies. It could be that guinea pigs are just a bit lazy because in their own natural habitat, they borrow holes that are abandoned by other diggers.

Guinea pigs temperaments in their own natural environment in South America are much the same as you find in the pet guinea pigs. They are prone to be attacked by carnivorous animals and tend to get frightened very often. Guinea pigs, as they don’t burrow, have guinea pig babies that are fully furred and born with their eyes open and in as little as two days after birth, are eating the same diet that the parents do. The mother guinea pigs do not find a borrowed burrow either to have the young guinea pigs rather they give birth out in the open with the protection of trees and long grass.
