There are many benefits to stopping smoking. These benefits are the reason why you should stop smoking. They wont in themselves help you stop smoking but they will provide you with motivation to go on and learn how to stop smoking successfully.

Stop smoking benefit #1: Your blood is partially ‘disabled’ by cigarette smoke. Carbon monoxide, a lethal gas found in every cigarette you smoke binds to the haemoglobin in your red blood cells. The carbon monoxide locks the red blood cell and stops it from being able to carry oxygen around your body. Smoking knocks out about 15% of your blood’s oxygen carrying capacity. When you stop smoking, your body will repair your blood and it will be back to normal within 2 days!

Stop smoking benefit #2: Cigarette smoke and the cocktail of 3,500 chemicals found in it, have damaged nerves throughout your body. Within 2 days your body will start to re-grow these damaged nerves. Your sense of taste and smell will sharpen. You will not need to salt your food as heavily as you used to.

Stop smoking benefit #3: Smokers are more likely to suffer from high blood pressure. When you stop smoking, your blood pressure will come down without any other intervention just from stopping smoking. High blood pressure is known as the ’silent killer’ that often goes unnoticed in people of middle age. High blood pressure makes your heart work harder and can result in an enlarged heart and heart disease. It is advisable to ask you doctor for a blood pressure check the next time you see them.

Stop smoking benefit #4: 90% of all lung cancer sufferers are smokers. The vast majority of smokers stop smoking the minute they are diagnosed with lung cancer, proving that quitting is possible. 10 years after quitting smoking, your risk of lung cancer will have halved.

Stop smoking benefit #5: Naturally, inhaling hot toxic gasses into your lungs 20 times a day causes considerable damage. Most significantly, smoking is a major contributor in Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease or COPD. COPD includes such illnesses as bronchitis (the inflammation of the lung bronchioles (tubes)) and emphysema. Emphysema is when your lung tissues lose their elasticity and you cannot breath normally. Death from emphysema comes in the form of a slow and utterly debilitating suffocation over the course of a few years. It is irreversible and incurable.

Stop smoking benefit #6: Between 5 and 15 years after quitting smoking, your risk of a stroke will have returned to that of a non-smoker (depending upon other influencing factors such as diet).

Stop smoking benefit #7: On average, smokers die between 8 and 10 years earlier than non-smokers. Stopping smoking even in middle age can reduce the risks of ill health significantly and there are always benefits in stopping smoking, no matter what your age.

Stop smoking benefit #8: After years of smoking, you will have suffered from a chronic cough. Between 3 and 12 months after stopping smoking, this cough should have disappeared.

Stop smoking benefit #9: Within 3 months of stopping smoking, your circulation should have improved significantly. If you used to suffer from ‘pins and needles’, they should be a thing of the past now. Your risk of heart attack will have reduced significantly.

Stop smoking benefit #10: Not only can you smell better you do smell better too! Your general odour will be much more pleasant to those around you.

Although nicotine has quite a reputation and is reported to be one of the most habit-forming substances around, its addiction can be broken. You can break it today. Yes, you really can stop smoking today; that is if you are finally sick and tired of smoking and sincerely want to quit. Yes, it’s darn hard to stop and you most certainly will experience some discomfort, but the rewards are manifold with a longer life span being the first in a long list of present as well as future benefits.

In fact as soon as you do quit smoking, something truly amazing occurs. It’s quite a miracle if you really think about it. That very day, right after you smoke your very last cigarette, usually before the next day, your body quickly goes to work in an attempt to rid itself of all the accumulated toxins and other unnecessary substances that were produced as a result of the nicotine. Your very own body kicks in gear and immediately begins repair operations on the various organs in your body that have been affected or damaged by the resident toxins. That’s its job. It always has been. It just has been paralyzed from doing it by the daily consumption of the poisonous substance nicotine. It was overwhelming. Now it can do its job; if you’ll allow it.

Now if you are serious about this life-changing endeavor read on. You will probably need help because you can expect some rough and rocky roads ahead especially during the first week or so. Your withdrawal symptoms can range from being nervous, jittery and at times down right hard to live with so you are strongly encouraged to ask your doctor for help. Don’t try the superhero I can do it by myself bit. It’s a waste of precious time. There are also too many statistics stacked against you; and you do want to quit don’t you?

The body, or govde, of a hookah pipe consists of a curved vessel which holds water. A graceful stem rises from the body and at the top of the stem is a bowl, or lle, which holds the tobacco. From one to several flexible hoses, the marpuc, with a mouthpiece, or agizlik, at the end, are used to draw the hookah smoke down through the water. The hookah tobacco is heated by charcoal and the water filters and cools the smoke. The water gurgles gently, like a woodland stream, and, in the process, makes the smoke smooth and cool.

The word shisha, which is often another word for hookah, comes from the Persian meaning glass or bottle. Hookahs and the culture of hookah smoking is often referred to as hookah shisha. Somewhat confusingly, at first, people also refer to hookah tobacco as shisha, or hookah shisha–and there is a Shisha brand of hookah shisha!

Hookah pipes today come in many styles, from Egyptian to Syrian, traveling, mini and mod models to specialty and custom designs. There is a world of history in the craftsmanship of hookah pipes. Traditional materials used in making hookahs were blown glass, often highly decorated in gold or enamel painting, brass, aluminum, silver, porcelain, clay, carved stone and wood, and leather. All these same materials are used today, with the addition of stainless steel, Pyrex glass, plastic, rubber, and high quality acrylics, among others.

In restaurants and smoking lounges, individually wrapped, disposable plastic mouthpieces are provided for each smoker. Other accoutrements of the hookah pipe and tobacco include the hookah charcoal and metal tongs. The charcoal is typically in coin-sized pieces and each lasts for about 30 minutes in the slow smoking tobacco mixture.

“I want to quit smoking, but I don’t know how!” most of you would say. The habit that has been with you for several years is so hard to leave behind. You have to begin a real fight in order to quit, you have to commit to it and work hard to achieve this goal. I will present some effective ways to quit smoking in this article that, I believe, will help you to get rid of this killing habit.

There are several ways and approaches you can use to deal with this problem. The one thing you have to remember is that you can quit. Some people try different ways to quit smoking until they finally find out what works for them. You too can follow their experience. Try one of the methods below. If it doesn’t work try another, combine them, mix and match until you get the desired result.

1. People who smoke a lot (more than one pack per day) have more physical addiction to the cigarettes. Their body suffers if it doesn’t get nicotine. So it is better for them to gradually decrease the amount of the cigarettes per day. They can also try to change the brand of the cigarettes with lower saturation of the nicotine.

2. The second treat for the heavy smokers are various “Stop smoking aids” and stress relief drugs. “Stop smoking aids” are mostly nicotine replacement products like gums, patches, lozenges, nasal sprays and inhalers. You can use them instead of smoking every time you have an urge to smoke. You should consult your therapist first. Researches have shown that people who use nicotine “aids” quit easier with greater success rate, than those without the “aids”. Use also some natural sedatives to reduce the stress and deal with the withdrawal symptoms.

3. Smoking is also a psychological habit, which is even harder to deal with if compared to physical. You have developed a psychological habit to smoke in the specific situations like after meals, at the parties, after the stress, after you wake up. Try to consciously catch this habitual desire to smoke and do not let it happen. Try to escape stressful situations during the start period. Don’t let your habits lead you.
